Welcome to Sharp Park Academy

Sharp Park Academy welcomes you! This Y5 – 5th grade building offers two classrooms at each grade level, along with safe and secure entryways. They follow the district curriculum, including Michigan Standards. Sharp Park Academy follows the mission “to develop caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through inner-cultural understanding and respect.” Students are encouraged to inquire; they are taught to “ask a good question every day”. The questions are called “I wonder questions” and go along with the unit of study, with the goal being that all questions are answered by the unit’s conclusion. Through the use of “I wonder” questions and inquiry model students develop a deep understanding of ideas and concepts that are meaningful and relevant to them, apply new learning and communicate the significance to others.

English Language Acquisition Program

  • TOSOL teacher, supporting ELL  students who speak languages other than English as their home language.
  • Paraprofessional support includes a Japanese speaking paraprofessional
  • Services include small group language supports and classroom based supports.
  • Classroom teachers with SIOP training  (instructional model that has proven effective in addressing the academic needs of Multilingual learners).

Sharp Park Academy also offers:

  • Service learning  opportunities for students
  • Social-emotional learning and leadership opportunities 
  • Daily specials include, physical education, technology, art, and music

Full Inclusion Special Education Supports

  • Students with an IEP receive the majority of their services in the general education classroom with push- in teacher   support  during classroom instruction.
  • Students also receive small group support with special education teachers as needed and appropriate
  • Students in Early Childhood classrooms receive small group cluster support in the classroom to support academics, and behavior as they ‘learn to learn ‘  this provides support with academics, transitions, and self regulation.

Active PTO

Active PTO meets monthly with meaningful volunteer opportunities:
